Successful Family Fun Day in Wyse Park!

A very enjoyable Family Fun Day took place on Tuesday 19th July from 2pm – 5pm in Wyse Park, Johns Lane, Waterford organised by St Brigids Family & Community Centre in conjunction with the Inner City Community Youth Project. St Brigids is around a long time providing family support and community activities for the people of Waterford since 1984. The Organisation has a purpose built Childcare Centre on Hennessy’s Road, two Charity Shops and a large Counselling, family support and group and individual programmes available at the Yellow Road premises.

Activities at the Family Fun Day including Gymboree, Giant Games, Mayfield Birds of Prey, Facepainting, Music Bands, Boules, Art, Dancing and Refreshments meant lots of fun was had by all on the hottest day of the year so far!

‘Childrens Street Games of Today & Yesteryear’ such as Hopscotch,
T-T’s, skipping, sack races, egg & spoon races etc hosted by the Waterford Intergenerational Group were also very popular during the afternoon bringing back memories for some and others learning a new game!

St Brigid’s FCC would like to thank local businesses Aldi, The Glen and Caulfields Supervalu, for sponsoring refreshments for the event as well as Tusla Child & Family Agency & the Community Foundation of Ireland for providing funding towards the event.

Thank you also to St Patricks Gateway Centre for hosting the Boules at the event, to Revolution Bar and Chick King for providing access to their bathroom facilities, to the Civil Defence for providing First Aid and to all for making it an enjoyable and fun family & community event!
